SERVICE RECORD:

It would seem that Pvt. Tidwell was taken prisoner sometime after the evacuation of Charleston and probably held at Hart's Island, NY as a POW.  He died on May 11, 1865 of "infection of the brain" and was buried in Cypress Hills National Cemetery in Brooklyn, New York.  He is buried in Plot #2748.
